Zero Waste Christmas? Not yet…

Zero Waste Christmas… It is a dream for me. First of all, the Christmas tree. I like Christmas with Christmas tree, with lots of lights, with lots of ornaments. And the presents. No presents for the adults, at least no material presents, maybe something that they can use up. But the children, they should get presents. How can we manage this with the zero waste thing? This year, I didn’t buy any Christmas wrapping paper or gift bags. I had some canvas bags and colorful papers, I just used these for packing. Why do all children toy packages have to include plastic bags? All of them, all little and all big pieces are inside plastic bags! Why did I buy those, at all? Next year I should find out something else.

And my favorite one, the Christmas tree. Honestly, we bought one. It was there with the other trees, already cut out, with curved tree trunk, so we bought it. First the children wanted to decorate our Christmas tree with everything, what they found in the house. My little son hid some Lego cars and pieces on the tree. Nearly every day fell down something from the tree.

But next year? Maybe I would make an alternative Christmas tree. In the garden, we have a spruce tree and maybe we could decorate that as a Christmas tree. Next year?
